The Holy Spirit has been mercifully pointing me and my wife back to the Gospel as we try to work through the damage my active addiction has caused. We have been working through the book of Romans with another couple from church that we are close to. It is such a blessing to go back to the beginning of my Christian journey. I wanted to share a few verses this morning to help us remember what “the power of God” (Romans 1:16) is.
Romans 3:23-24
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus
Romans 3:27-28
Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By what kind of works? No, but by the law of faith. For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.
We can’t get enough of this truth. Jesus Christ has redeemed us. He has given us the gift of grace, not the payment of grace for our good works. Let’s remember this today. It is hard for me to enjoy things sometimes when I am so focused on recovery and making good choices. What if today I just ask God to keep me focused on the Gospel and bring me joy and peace?
